AKAUSHI BEEF.

Our cattle are a specialty breed that originated from Japan. Akaushi are one of four breeds known collectively as Wagyu. “Wagyu” translates simply enough as “Japanese cow.” Of the four Japanese breeds of cattle, Akaushi is the one known in its native Japan as the “Emperor’s Breed.” They did not exist outside of Japan until 1994. We first started breeding Akaushi into our Angus herd in the 2010’s and just weened our first crop of half bloods.

 

what sets us apart.

HEALTHY FATS.

One of the main things that sets Akaushi cattle apart from the rest of the beef on the market is the fat content in the meat. While all beef has saturated fats, Akaushi has a higher concentration of monounsaturated fat. Monounsaturated Fatty Acids are a healthy addition to our diets that can actually help people shed fat. The American Heart Association has reported that a diet with a higher amount of monounsaturated fats versus saturated fats can help lower cholesterol.

PASTURE RAISED.

We pasture raise our cattle from birth until slaughter. Our cattle get lots of grass and sunshine which makes happy cows and delicious beef! They eat lots of fresh green grass in the spring and summer and are supplementally fed hay grown on our ranch in the winter months.

Our steers are finished on grass, hay from our ranch, and an all natural blend of grains that are specially grown and mixed for us locally in Northern California. We find this feeding regiment produces the best tasting beef.

HUMANELY RAISED.

Our Cattle are kept as stress free and happy as possible. They are given acres and acres of green grass to freely live their lives.

ANTIBIOTIC AND HORMONE FREE.

We never give our cattle hormones or use unnecessary antibiotics.
